Dr. Lerner, an ordained rabbi, holds doctorates in education and psychology. He is the Rabbi Emeritus of the 600-family Claremont Hebrew Congregation in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a Past Chairman of the Cape Town Rabbinical Association and former Vice President of the Southern African Rabbinical Association.
In the United States, Dr. Lerner served as an elementary and high school principal and as an Adjunct Professor of Education at the University of California. Dr. Lerner has created and facilitated successful teacher training and parenting workshops in England, the United States and Australia. He has written booklets on family issues including parenting, communication and conflict resolution.
Dr. Lerner is often invited to lecture on themes which require a blend of his spiritual, psychological and educational experience. Currently, Dr Lerner is a consulting psychologist to schools, businesses and Jewish organizations in the United States and Europe. As a senior staff lecturer for the Jewish Learning Exchange of the United Kingdom, he inspires audiences with his insights, warmth and humor.
He and his wife, Arleeta, reside in suburban Washington, DC. The Lerners are the proud parents and grandparents of 5 children and their families.
